Cost Plus World Market is looking for a motivated Staff Accountant to join our team! You’ll be critical in implementing process improvements and supporting the day-to-day operations of a quickly developing accounting organization to support our growth. Make an immediate impact to our business through your responsibility of complex accounting functions that require a strong understanding of both operational and technical accounting processes. You’ll be a key contributor in monthly financial closings, accrual evaluation and calculations, and internal financial reporting. You’ll also be responsible for performing account analysis, reconciliations, including analyzing account balance variances and documentation audits.What You’ll Do

Responsible for the timely and accurate month-end close process.
Record financial-related data into appropriate systems and subsystems.
Analyze, prepare and execute financial system journal entries postings.
Reconcile items and analyze balance sheet accounts.
Research and resolve problems and errors using internal and external sources and systems.
Analyze and report results, prepare and execute corrective actions.
Provide work leadership to other accounting personnel and specialized support within the team for various accounting functions.
Prepare audit schedules for quarterly and year-end financial audit.
Identify and implement process improvements with strong controls.
Write and maintain adequate documentation to support and describe current work processes
Prepare annual budgets.

What You’ll Bring

• BS or BA in Accounting.
• Minimum of 4 years work experience within general accounting.
• Excellent operational and technical understanding of accounting principles and GAAP compliance.
• Ability to independently analyze and decide upon complex general ledger account reconciliations.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Capability to build relationships with and provide work leadership to team members.
• Have a can-do attitude to manage individual work and projects effectively in a team environment.
• Be comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities.
• Proficient in MS Excel and Word.
• Experience with Accounting Software.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently, with strong attention to detail and deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task and open and flexible to change.
• Desire to learn and take on challenges.
• Ability to identify opportunities for process improvements, internal controls and improved efficiency.
