Do you have a background in corporate PR and a strong interest in issues including sustainability, the environment and equality? If so we have a great opportunity to join the PR team at one of the UK’s largest supermarkets

You will play an integral role in Asda’s corporate PR team – working with the Corporate Citizen Media Relations Manager to develop and manage a regular drumbeat of proactive news stories to promote and protect Asda’s reputation as a strong corporate citizen.

Your Role

  • You will be a natural storyteller with an eye for what makes the news, and experience of creating engaging content linked to either sustainability, the environment, equality, diversity and a strong employer brand.
  • You will have a history of building strong journalist contacts across national and regional media and be comfortable pitching in stories and ideas to media.
  • Your communication and writing skills will be second to none, with the ability to create different types of copy including news releases, blogs and ‘expert voice’ pieces.
  • You will also work with a variety of internal stakeholders on reactive media issues and have the ability to understand complex issues and craft reactive responses often to short deadlines.
  • Identifying reputational threats and potential opportunities through proactive horizon scanning will also be an important part of your role as a trusted advisor to the business.

About You

  • You will have a minimum of two years’ experience in corporate PR – ideally with experience working within a busy corporate press team (agency or in-house)
    Excellent copywriting skills and ability to identify and create engaging news stories
    Demonstrable experience of working with corporate media on a national and local level, across print and broadcast channels.
    Knowledge of sustainability and environmental issues in relation to the retail sector (preferred but not essential).
