What does a great Business Systems Analyst do?

The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) works as a liaison among the Professional Services stakeholders to elicit, analyze, communicate, manage and validate requirements for the creation of new or modification of existing processes, programs, products, policies and information systems. The BSA understands business problems and opportunities and helps stakeholders meet business needs, goals, and objectives.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct analysis of business goals, objectives, and needs of the business environment
  • Create detailed technical specifications including but not limited to the following: current and desired state business process models, develops use cases, define business rules and preferences, propose prototypes and acceptance criteria
  • Participate and provide feedback for peer reviews of business and process documentation
  • Assist with managing the requests, accounting for all assigned tasks, their status and priorities
  • Cope with complex situation through deliberate analysis and planning
  • Make recommendations to improve business processes
  • Assist in root cause analysis in order to recommend enhancements or other appropriate actions to improve productivity for business units
  • Utilize systems and data to resolve business-related analysis and research to support business goals
  • Provide financial or operational business related analysis and research to support business goals

Basic qualifications for consideration:

Education – Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, MIS or related discipline or equivalent professional experience

Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • 3+ years work-related experience of fundamental technical and business knowledge
  • 2+ years of experience working in the financial services industry or the financial technology space
  • Banking and Bill Payment experience highly preferred
  • Familiarity with Electronic Payments Professional Services Implementation and PM practices
  • Strong grasp of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project and Visio with demonstrated ability using V-look-ups, Pivot tables, Power BI and Dashboards
  • Familiar with using Clarity for updates while ensuring data integrity and reporting
  • Success presenting information to technical and non-technical staff in a manner facilitating understanding by the intended audience
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
  • Proven analytical skills, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong meeting facilitation skills and collaboration skills
  • Travel required: Percentage/frequency of travel – 5%
