ASRC Federal Highland Technology is seeking a Product Owner (Software Development) to lead one of our many agile teams from a product perspective to develop and deliver complex custom software–including COTS integration–in an enterprise-class web application environment.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Government Subject Matter Experts and Product Managers to break Features down into Stories for the development team
  • Collaborates with other teams and ARTs and the Solution Managers, and with fellow Product Owners and Architects to deliver complete solutions
  • Coordinates with the team Scrum Master and the agile development Team to refine stories
  • Builds, owns, maintains, and prioritizes the team backlog of stories, defects, and enablers
  • Represents the voice of the customer to the development team
  • Understands and customer needs
  • Accepts completed stories
  • Understands and supports the greater solution, business context, and user perspectives
  • Leads story refinement at PI Planning and Iteration Planning
  • Work with Architects to understand enabler work
  • Participates in demos and inspect and adapt events

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree — Computer Science or Technical Journalism preferred
  • At least 3 years’ experience supporting software/hardware development efforts
  • 7 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree would be acceptable, especially if the experience is multi-functional (i.e., operations and development)
  • Product Owner certification
  • Knowledge and experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to concisely describe business requirements
  • Experience with Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools such as JIRA, Version One, Rational, or Rally
  • Ability to use a variety of software to facilitate the organization, presentation, communication, and refinement of work (examples include Rational, JIRA, Confluence, Miro, Visio, and Microsoft Office)
  • Experience writing and splitting features and stories
  • Familiarity with web-based software: .NET, C#, Java, JavaScript, AJAX, Core Services
  • Familiarity with the logic of databases
  • Understanding of user interfaces and most common approaches found in GUIs
  • Presentation of requirements findings and mockups for review with sponsors and end users
  • Successful candidate is subject to a background investigation by the government and must be able to meet the requirements to hold a position of public trust.

Desired Skills

  • Experience communicating with a wide range of personnel at all levels of an organization including business sponsors and executives, sales and marketing, Scrum Masters, managers, development teams, and end users
  • Solid understanding of Agile development methodologies
  • Familiarity with integrating COTS and custom software as part of an enterprise software solution (Experience with SAS, SAP, Salesforce, or Pega preferred)
  • Willingness to assist with in development testing

This position is offering a pay range of $93,174 – $110,000 depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.
