What You’ll Do:

Stats Perform is looking for a U.S.-based entry-level Researcher/Writer. In this role, you will be responsible for producing unique statistical content for our industry-leading client base, working with the media and other professional organizations

The role will entail research support for our clients, using internal tools to analyze sports statistics and to generate insights and statistical storylines. You will create custom research reports and editorial content for broadcast and media clients, both pre-and post-match, and respond to custom research requests directly from those clients, often under the time pressure of live broadcasts. Requirements include:

  • Support live broadcasts with absolutely accurate and timely research assistance
  • Write compelling statistical storylines for broadcast clients using internal research tools
  • Write SQL scripts to query the Stats Perform proprietary database
  • Use software tools to create data visualizations
  • Contribute to group projects for big events
  • Regularly work nights and/or weekends
  • Work from home, as conditions might require, with total focus on tasks

What You’ll Bring:

  • A degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or other analytical field or a degree in Journalism or Communications
  • Samples of your writing, preferably on sports and/or analytics
  • Strong familiarity with and interest in professional and college sports
  • Ability to analyze sports statistics and present them clearly and creatively
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well with others in a team atmosphere
  • Ability to produce error-free work under tight deadlines
  • Focus and dedication to work responsibly in a work-from-home setting

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience in data journalism, especially in sports
  • Experience in statistical research and analysis in the sports field
  • Experience in sports television production
  • Knowledge or experience in SQL / Oracle database scripting
  • Experience with PL/SQL coding
  • Experience with Tableau data visualization software
  • Experience with Atlassian suite of tools (JIRA, Confluence)
  • Knowledge of women’s college basketball, women’s soccer, international soccer
