Full Job Description

Our Communication Specialists are writers and editors who share a passion for creating multimedia content that connects with customers, dealers and employees. Our team brainstorms ideas, collaborates with others, develops strategic concepts and crafts meaningful, compelling messages that inspire and motivate our audiences to take action. On any given day, you may be asked to write and edit content in a variety of channels, including, but not limited to: Websites, advertising, news releases, social media, employee communications, video scripts and executive messaging.

Job Duties

  • Write and edit engaging B2B and B2C content driven by strategic communications goals
  • Partner with various stakeholders to create, develop and execute multi-channel campaigns and communication programs that drive results
  • Develop new ideas to support and enhance the department’s overall content strategy
  • Identify the communication goal and key messages in order to write concise and compelling copy consistent with the GM Financial brand voice and craft effective calls to action for lead generation
  • Proactively seek out, interview and work with subject matter experts for expertise-driven content
  • Act as a communication liaison to departments throughout the company
  • Collaborate and brainstorm with other marketing team members, such as designers, user experience and web developers
  • Demonstrate teamwork to help promote an ego-free, creative culture
  • Consistently manage deadlines and priorities for multiple projects simultaneously
  • Continually track, measure, evaluate and improve communication efforts that lead to enhanced customer experiences
  • Provide communication, grammar, editing and marketing expertise in support of other departments as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Conform with all company policies and procedures


  • Advanced knowledge of electronic and print communication processes
  • Advanced knowledge of organizational communication and B2B and B2C marketing theories and practices
  • Knowledge of content management systems and Agile/Scrum a plus
  • Experience coordinating people and teams to a common goal
  • Experience with brand messaging, product messaging, event planning and video production
  • Understanding of latest technology to support efforts
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Knowledge and experience advertising through social channels
  • Knowledge of principles of SEO including keyword research
  • Knowledgeable in the principles of “Search and Social”
  • Knowledge of the blogging ecosystem relevant to auto financing field
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their respective participants and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios
  • Knowledge of the financial industry

  • Interpersonal skills to relate with staff at all levels throughout the company to stay aware of potentially newsworthy developments
  • Strong presentation and media relations skills to communicate and persuade a wide range of audiences
  • Clear articulation of messages in all media
  • Ability to positively lead, coach and develop others
  • Multi-tasking skills
  • Advanced software applications (eg, Outlook, Word, Excel, )


  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent professional work experience, in journalism, mass communications, public relations or related discipline required


  • 1-3 years of experience in an advertising/marketing agency or a corporate communications/marketing role, including internships required

Working Conditions

Normal office environment subject to stressful situations
Flexible schedule with possibility of working long hours including weekends/holidays, occasional overtime or split shifts may be required
