The Keizertimes is seeking an energetic journalist/reporter to cover the sports, schools and fire beats for our independent, community weekly newspaper. Requires covering sports including local school sports and an independent league baseball team. This position will cover education/schools which include one high school, two middle schools and six elementary schools. Position also covers two local fire districts. Applicants must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed for games and meetings throughout the year. The ideal candidates will demonstrate a history of working independently as well as with a team, have a good grasp of AP style, developing news and exhibiting a good news judgment. The position will do general reporting, spot reporting, features and enterprise writing. Skills required include photography, pagination with the InDesign program, solid interview skills matched with ability to develop stories on their own. Salary and benefits.
