Responsibilities:

Altice News is looking for a Sr. Producer to develop and produce our live news programming. The ideal candidate has a passion for news and journalism and the ability to contribute and lead in the creation of excellent news production.

As a Sr. Producer, this role is responsible for preparing the rundown of news stories and overseeing and executing the production of key video and graphic elements with guidance from the Executive Producer. The Sr. Producer will also line produce, needing to make quick and important editorial decisions in the control room that guide the talent, writers, producers, associate producers, and the technical team.

In this role, you must calmly deal with changes and breaking news during live programming and ensure all content meets the standards for journalistic integrity and production quality at Altice News. In addition, as a Sr. Producer, you will be responsible for training, onboarding, and mentoring producers and associate producers on the team, as well as cover for the Executive Producer as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Build segments and develop story ideas from the beginning to air.
  • Work closely with and guide Associate Producers and Producers, as they assist in research, gathering elements, and writing show segments.
  • Write clear, accurate copy with sources checked and on strict deadline.
  • Lookover the copy of producers and associate producers as needed, and serve as a sounding board.
  • Maintain a strong familiarity with local, national and international current events, important issues and newsmakers.
  • Pitch stories and segment ideas to be covered.
  • Organize a strong, compelling, and audience-driven rundown while executing the vision of the newscast.
  • Oversee daily rundown changes and work with show directors and production crews to block the newscast.
  • Manage all aspects of the broadcast, from editorial discussions, writing scripts, package production, graphic elements, out-of-show teasing, show timing, and field coordination.
  • Act as main conduit to anchors through their IFB.
  • Must always have a pulse on developing stories/breaking news, and be ready to break into the live broadcast if needed.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in news and/or journalism required.
  • Previous experience as a line producer in live news required.
  • Familiarity with newscast production software, like ENPS.
  • Strong skills in news writing and ability to recognize stories with high potential for compelling television.
  • Ability to determine the best news stories for the broadcast and the ability to delegate duties to the team.
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Possess a strong collaborative spirit.
  • Flexible schedule with ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge of and interest in local, national, world, and business news.
