Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the Social Media and Marketing Specialist will serve as a key member of the LIRS Communications Team and will be responsible for managing all of LIRS’ social media platforms. They will collaborate with colleagues in the Communications department and across the organization to identify, conceptualize, and implement effective social media and digital marketing campaigns for a variety of initiatives, as well as creatively grow our audiences across various platforms.

Duties

  • Responsible for managing all LIRS social media accounts, including but not limited to the organization’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Work collaboratively across the Communications Team and other departments within the organization to conceptualize social media and digital advertising initiatives that support LIRS’s organizational mission, strategic objectives, and editorial calendar, providing particular emphasis to LIRS’s programs and impact
  • Help develop a social media strategy and digital marketing plan, analyze the short and long – term needs of LIRS’s social media strategy and offer quarterly reports to leadership teams that outline any necessary changes to the digital marketing plan
  • Design and execute on a proactive, strategic social media calendar for all LIRS social media accounts and work with External Affairs and Programs to conceptualize and implement strategic social media campaigns for event promotion, fundraising, campaign support, and more
  • Develop and write creative social content and copy as needed, ensuring posts match LIRS messaging and are consistent in tone; anticipate content needs for dynamic, rapid response on social regarding policy changes or breaking news
  • Offer support to the LIRS Press Secretary in the creation and management of the President & CEO’s social media accounts (Twitter and Facebook), when assigned
  • Design and create graphics and brief videos for social platforms and posts
  • Track and provide the Communications team with monthly reports on social media, digital content, email newsletters, virtual event attendance, and web-based metrics
  • Oversee the successful implantation of LIRS’s Google Ad grant, help to identify ways to optimize copy and landing pages for search engine optimization
  • Monitor digital media trends and help to brainstorm innovative strategies to advance online performance and to grow and cultivate LIRS’s online community
  • Lead identification and communication with external digital media/marketing contractors
  • Brings new ideas, tools, technologies, and insights to the Communications Team, including on new social media platforms
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related fields preferred: Communications, Business, Marketing, Political Science, Journalism, etc.
  • Three to four years related experience in social media, marketing/communications, digital media, online communications, or a related field
  • Experience with graphic design and video creation software
  • Experience with content management systems and web platforms (including but not limited to MailChimp, Luminate, WordPress), search engine optimization (SEO), Google Analytics, and graphic design applications, such as Adobe InDesign, Canva, Photoshop
  • Demonstrated knowledge of online marketing and communications strategies and tactics, digital trends, and technologies
  • Experience in tracking, analyzing, and reporting on social media and digital marketing metrics
  • Experience in web management and content management systems; knowledge of basic HTML; proficiency in web content development, software, and standards, preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively across organizational lines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
