Position Summary

The Senior Technical Writer is responsible for authoring, editing, reviewing, and maintaining technical and end-user documentation for software that comprises the Change Healthcare Platform. This is a critical position for enabling adoption, use, and troubleshooting of SDKs, platform services, and platform components by internal stakeholders as well as customers and partners. As the first person in this newly created platform position, you will have the opportunity to drive the processes and model for technical documentation and lifecycle control for the Platform.

This role will function as a primary writer for Platform technical information, and you will be responsible for deliverables of substantial scope and complexity including media such as infographics, screenshot markups, and training videos. You must have strong writing skills, the ability to synthesize technical content from subject matter experts and create training materials that clearly explain the topic/task to end-users based on their persona.

Responsibilities

  • Create exceptional documentation in the form of user guides, integration guides, API developer guides, in-platform instructions, installation/configuration instructions, implementation guides, online help, release notes, and system operations.
  • Create client resources and educational materials, including videos, demos, tutorials, training materials, guided tours, general & technical overview, FAQs, processes, procedures, etc. for technical and nontechnical users.
  • Develop and promote the adoption of documentation templates, and internal processes and procedures relevant to your area.
  • Create and promote regular use of a content management system (CMS) to manage the lifecycle of technical documentation including draft, review, and publish phases.
  • Gather and analyze technical and product information from various sources to document new or changing product functionality.
  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and tracking documentation work to meet product release dates and client deliverables.
  • Edit other writers’ content and documentation for consistency and continuously update content with current information.
  • Create and maintain tracking and ticketing system to ensure deadlines are met and client deliverables and received on time.
  • Test products for issues, provide insight to resolving problems and ensure documentation is accurate and consistent.
  • Monitor metrics on the usage of training materials as well as direct customer feedback to prioritize future training investments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Engineering, Quality Analysis, Product Management, Product Marketing and Customer Enablement.

Job Qualifications

  • 5+ years of successful experience in technical writing in a software or technology environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in experience in English, Communication, Journalism, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Writing, Teaching, Curriculum Development or Scientific Publication.
  • Strong written and verbal communications. Strong experience owning an end-to-end documentation creation process. Experience working with content in multiple mediums.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them concise and easily understandable
  • Can experiment with the product at all phases of development
  • Experience interpreting story documents for writing and updating product documentation
  • Experience interviewing subject matter experts and experimenting with software to obtain technical and product knowledge for a project
  • Experience with at least one of the following (creating Wiki pages in Confluence, creating and managing SharePoint solutions, and/or JIRA configuration)
  • Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile software development in a SaaS and software platform environment
  • Experience with API documentation

The base pay range for Colorado residents is $68,590.00 – $140,700.00 plus any relevant incentive pay programs that may be aligned to the role.
