General Overview: Are you driven to excel as a senior proposal writer and motivated to produce high-scoring content? If so, join the SAIC Proposal Development Center (PDC). SAIC offers the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative team dedicated to high-quality proposal writing. SAIC proposal writers work across technical capabilities and program teams, build strong relationships, and support diverse customer needs.This position is 100% remote Nationwide.

Position Description: The Senior Proposal Writer collaborates with SAIC/partner experts and team members to develop compliant, responsive, compelling, customer-focused, strengths-based proposals in response to Federal Government solicitations. The ideal candidate will have experience working management, technical, resume, and past performance sections, including qualifying experience data to align with solicitation requirements.

Description of Duties:

  • Writes and leads technical, management, resume, and/or past performance sections and volumes, with a heavy emphasis on strengths, quantifiable benefits, and customer needs
  • Owns proposal volumes, preparing, writing, guiding, reviewing, and delivering the complete volume and all deliverables and ensuring sections are compliant and compelling.
  • Serves as a consultative representative of proposal best practices, PDC processes, and proposal writing excellence
  • Maintains a solid understanding of the RFP requirements and compliance across assigned sections and/or volumes, including the outline, narrative, graphics, and call-out boxes
  • Provides direction and oversight to supporting writers, as needed
  • Communicates progress, achievements, inchstone, challenges, and risks of projects, routinely and effectively to proposal teams and management
  • Writes clear, persuasive, and articulate proposal sections; translates complex ideas into easily understandable text
  • Conducts peer reviews, color reviews, and one-voice reviews, as assigned
  • Apply interview and communication skills to gather needed information from internal and external personnel to support writing activities.
  • Provides mentorship, training, and guidance to junior writing staff, and for PDC training initiatives
  • Suggests, develops, maintains, and improves proposal writing processes, procedures, templates, toolsets, and repositories

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, History, Political Science, or related field
  • 6+ total years of professional experience, 4+ years with master’s, additional years’ experience considered in lieu of degree
  • 3+ years of experience working as a proposal writer responding to Federal Government solicitations
  • Demonstrated success writing technical, management, resume, past performance sections for complex efforts
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Strong work ethic and desire to excel and keep growing over time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal training in APMP/Shipley or other contemporary proposal industry best practices
  • 3+ years of experience working as a proposal writer responding to Federal Government solicitations
  • Ability to coach and instruct others to facilitate consistency across multiple authors

Target salary range: $85,001 – $95,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
