Overview

The department of Structural Biology at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking a full-time senior science writer/editor. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated and experienced writer to work in a dynamic environment where important and challenging biological systems are studied using state-of-the-art structural biology, computational and biophysical techniques. The person will lead initiatives to shape scientific communications by the department, working closely with faculty and scientists to write and edit publications and grant proposals and communicate scientific accomplishments. The writer will actively attend scientific meetings and collaboratively organize and plan symposia held by the department on campus. The ideal candidate will have a passion for scientific communication, strong understanding of the scientific and funding landscape, and experience as an editor in a biology-related scientific journal. Minimum Education

  • Master of Science in an area of Biomedical Science required. PhD preferred.

Minimum Experience

  • Two years of experience writing and producing high-level scientific materials. Evidence of significant contribution to the writing and publication of major articles or reports is required. Experience conducting high-level research with significant independence. Experience working in a staff position or in a freelance capacity on coordination and management of complex scientific communications projects
