Part-time News Anchor & Online Writer for News/Talk 95.1 & 790, KFYO

KFYO is currently seeking to fill its Morning News Anchor position. This position is part-time working Monday through Friday mornings with both on-air and digital responsibilities. Strong writing ability is required to excel in all facets of the job. The person selected for this position may also have the opportunity to supplement their income by contributing audio and/or news reports to a statewide news network.

Responsibilities

Anchor twice-hourly newscasts on KFYO with additional newscasts airing on other stations in the cluster
Write and publish at least two news stories, during each workday, on the radio station website
Spend time each day searching for local story ideas, plus write local, state, and national news stories for use on-air
Edit audio from local talk show interviews for use in newscasts
Keep track of delays and closings, for local schools and businesses, during severe weather days
Publish daily posts on radio station social media accounts, including Facebook and Twitter, and publish story alerts on radio station’s mobile app

Qualifications

Must be digitally savvy, proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Outlook and Excel, and also proficient with the WordPress content creation tool for websites
Must be able to receive coaching, and take direction, for both on-air and online duties
Must demonstrate dependability, strong communication skills and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail, able to multi-task, strong work ethic, and has a winning attitude
Prefer previous experience with RCS NexGen or Zetta and Adobe Audition computer programs
Knowledge of current events, and the ability to keep up with local and national news
