JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The College of Agricultural Sciences College Relations and Communications Office is seeking an individual to assist news staff by writing, editing and proofreading Penn State Extension news releases. Duties include researching to gather background information; interviewing Extension educators and faculty sources; and writing news releases following A.P. style. This is a remote position with flexible work hours reporting to the News Editor. Three writing samples must be provided along with resume and cover letter for consideration. Samples may either be attached to application or accessible online.

Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism or related field; excellent writing and communication skills; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; attention to detail; familiarity with, or willing to learn, A.P. style; highly organized with excellent time-management skills.

CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS:

  • Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
  • The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters. The ASR is available for review here .
