About the role

This position is both a technical multimedia expert as well as a creative animator and storyteller. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in multiple aspects of video and multimedia production, including videography (camera, lighting, and audio operation), video editing, motion animation, photography, and photo editing—all while adhering to brand standards to ensure a consistent image across all Symetra’s three divisions and corporate channels.

What you will do

  • Create high-quality multimedia using video, photography, motion graphics and text that accurately informs, entertains and engages our audience(s). At times, this position will be responsible for scripting, storyboarding, shooting, and editing videos. Apply creative thinking to support company’s goals. Provide great customer service, helping clients with ideation and discovering creative ways to tell their stories. Projects will include video filmed in studio as well as captured remotely (50%)
  • Assist in Symetra’s video production studio to capture high quality video for both internal and external projects. Potentially operate camera, lighting, audio, and streaming equipment. Anticipate issues with upcoming shoots and proactively works to mitigate roadblocks on production days. Put talent and video subjects at ease. Help maintain a clean and orderly studio environment (20%)
  • Key creator of animated content for the Creative Services team in Corporate Marketing. Create and edits motion graphics for web and social media, internal video projects, and divisional product videos (20%)
  • Research trends, tools, and inspiration in multimedia spheres. Provide insight and suggestions that could be used to drive business to the brand (10%)

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia, Videography, Broadcast Journalism, Photography, Visual Communications or another related field
  • 4+ years of multimedia experience, including storyboarding, animating motion graphics, videography (camera operation, lighting, and audio), photography and video editing
  • Highly proficient in current Adobe Creative Suite programs (primarily Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator)
  • Mac and PC literate with knowledge and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
