MLive.com seeks a political reporter as part of a dynamic team covering Michigan politics, policymaking, state departments and the State Capitol.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have The Following

• Ability to locate, digest and create daily political and public policy stories that resonate with everyday Michiganders.
• Ability to work with a team of experienced political reporters, including through partnering with other reporters on enterprise pieces and longform, investigative journalism.
• Familiarity or willingness to learn new tools and software, including our content management system for publishing stories and photographs.
• Ability to tell stories in smart and engaging ways and be willing to experiment in different story-telling forms.
• Degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field required
• Minimum of 2 years of journalism experience with a proven ability in reporting and writing required
• Ability to work independently and remotely
