Seeking an experienced professional for statutory insurance financial statement preparation and analysis, including the ability to meet deadlines, and effectively work with management and external auditors.

The Lead Financial Reporting Accountant provides accounting, reporting, management support and oversight for general and insurance accounting activities for the organization in compliance with regulatory policies. This position is responsible for meeting deadlines associated with statutory insurance reporting. Additionally, position is responsible for coordinating the tools, resources, and completion of responsibilities of this area.

What you will do

  • Prepare statutory insurance company financial statements for management, regulators, and external auditors
  • Working directly with the auditors and examiners in providing data and support to inquiries
  • Ensure transactional accounting accuracy through preparation, oversight, and resolution for insurance companies
  • Produce financial and/or management information for insurance companies
  • Prioritize work assignments and responsibilities for self, project and/or team
  • Identify and create controls to maintain the financial integrity of the business area
  • Work as part of team to implement new accounting standards for statutory insurance reporting
  • Identify and execute appropriate actions, within tolerable risk, to complete daily work, solve complex problems and provide a broad perspective on existing processes.
  • Support implementation for mergers and/or acquisitions as needed
  • Defines, researches, and implements recommendations to internal/external business challenges to improve processes or services
  • Additional duties as required

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Masters’s Degree preferred
  • CPA eligible or CPA designation preferred
  • 3-5 year’s related experience including Financial Statements and Analysis
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Advanced Excel preferred)
  • Financial ERP experience is helpful but not required
