Team Overview And Role Responsibility

BlackRock’s Global Financial Reporting (GFR) team is responsible for all aspects of our shareholders’ financial reporting experience for BlackRock fund ranges globally. As a part of the GFR team, you will partner globally with external providers and internal colleagues in formulating the successful delivery of shareholder reports. We’re also seeking someone with unique perspectives to help advance our globally aligned vision of fund financial reporting. Additional responsibilities include:

Role Responsibility

  • Carry out analytical, quantitative and qualitative reviews of financial statements (including notes) prepared by third-party administrators, ensuring that BlackRock disclosure policies and quality standards are maintained, and resolving any audit inquiries;
  • Manage the annual audit process, including organizing and leading audit planning, audit status and closing meetings with fund administrators and external audit firms;
  • Assess and monitor service quality of third-party financial reporting vendors by providing feedback, identifying areas for improvement and managing any changes in service requirements;
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with multiple internal and external partners, including fund administrators and fund accounting agents, independent accountants, product tax, investment operations, portfolio managers and in-house and external legal counsel;
  • Analyze and communicate new and existing accounting standards, technical literature, and investment fund industry best practices to determine accounting treatment and accounting policy;
  • Support the continual development of the financial reporting operating model to optimize efficiency, mitigate risk and incorporate business and product changes.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and internal initiatives to strengthen GFR’s global operating model

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance;
  • Advanced degree and/or CPA are preferable;
  • 3+ years of experience in public accounting or financial services accounting and administration.
  • Knowledge of technical and regulatory issues affecting the investment fund industry, including strong knowledge of US GAAP accounting standards. Experience with funds registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and Regulation S-X are a plus;
  • Computer proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Takes ownership for outcomes and is personally accountable for results;
  • Analyze relevant information using logic and consider relevant facts to make rational, realistic and sound decisions;
  • Produces accurate work and spots mistakes/errors and makes appropriate corrections;
  • Understands common business and financial terminology including how organizations operate, compete and grow;
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including ability to clearly articulate results of financial analyses as wells as issues to senior management and the auditors;
  • Self-motivated, determined to achieve goals and works hard to meet those goals.
