Job Summary

The producer assists hosts and the production team in producing segments, booking interviews, preparing scripts, editing audio and preparing a daily broadcast news magazine.

Essential Functions

  • 70% – Researches story topics, books guests, sets up studio time, creates interview packet; prepares scripts; generates ideas; gathers news and related program information
  • 10% – Performs tape editing and produces programs and/or program segments
  • 10% – Coordinates program segments with field correspondents and others involved in programming
  • 10% – Participates in on-air fundraising projects and programming

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in journalism, radio/television, broadcasting or directly related field and one year directly related experience such as audio and/or video program and production support experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

  • A. Master’s Degree in related field
  • B. Two (2) years producing radio content
  • C. One (1) or more years of news reporting experience
  • D. Two (2) years of editing experience using digital tools

Special Working Conditions

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver’s license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements. Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate’s own expense. Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations. May require numerous evenings or weekends. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs
