Full Job Description

Serve as a primary contact for multiple sports, leading all media relations efforts for those sports. Primary duties will include developing, maintaining and managing all the selected sports media materials (releases, statistics, records, and webcasts), producing website content, including video, for the selected sports and social media content production for that and other sports. Manage day-to-day communications duties for selected sports, including interviews, media availability and feature stories. Assist with supervision and training of student assistants. Collaborate with marketing and communications on promotions and special events. Work at all home events as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree. Minimum of one year of full-time work experience in athletics communications – or one year of full-time internship/graduate assistant experience, plus a minimum of two years of undergraduate student assistant employment. Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance issues as they pertain to publicity and promotional efforts. Must have exceptional interpersonal communications skills to include excellent writing experience. Experience with Macintosh and PC computers using Adobe In-Design, Photoshop and Premiere Pro, Microsoft Word and PC platform stat programs (Presto, StatCrew, and Genius) required. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, sports management or related area. More than the required experience in athletic media relations, sports information, and/or sports public relations. Having at least one year working with as a sports team communication contact. Previous work experience in professional or collegiate athletics sports programs. Serve as an editor on at least one publication. Extensive organizational skills and work experience managing several projects simultaneously. Experience as a website content writer/editor. Creative skills necessary to generate unique ideas for website coverage and social media platforms. Experience with video webcasting and editing, and Photoshop, including basic production of graphics.
