WTVR, The E.W. Scripps Company CBS affiliate in Richmond, VA, and the 2020 Edward R. Murrow Overall Excellence award-winning station is looking for an experienced, and engaging Anchor/Reporter to join our team.

The Anchor/Reporter serves the communities by providing the highest standard of ethical and honest news reporting.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Gathers unbiased content affecting the community.
  • Able to deliver the news in a smooth, conversational, approachable, yet authoritative tone.
  • Prepares story items for presentation on multiple platforms (TV, internet and mobile).
  • Work with newsroom employees and personal sources to develop engaging, accurate and ethical newscast.
  • Anchoring multiple reports from breaking news to investigative reporting.
  • Organize and set up interviews and video shoots.
  • Writhe story content and edit and review video in order to put stories together.
  • Take part in station and independent community service events and activities Follow the Scripps Journalism Ethics Guidelines.
  • Engage viewers via social media on a daily basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism is preferred.
  • At least 2-years of anchor/reporting experience preferred.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Must connect on camera with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to cultivate sources and mine stories.
  • Must demonstrate strong news judgment and organizational skills.
  • Must have keen sense of logistics and ability to work well under intense pressure and deadlines.
  • Must have good creative and editorial judgment. Mastery of journalistic ethics and libel law.
  • Must be able to speak clearly and concisely.
  • Strong broadcast and digital writing skills..
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of local, regional and national news.
  • Work well under pressure and at a fast pace.
  • Working knowledge of all social media platforms.
  • Able to work flexible hours.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required. In addition, proof of insurance and liability coverage may be required.
